Don’t Let Your Home FALL Behind This Season! 

Fall is in the air! The smell of apple crisp and pumpkin spice will be filling the air of many homes this season. While you are decorating and enjoying all the fun activities this new season brings, don’t let your actual home FALL behind in maintenance. 

Here is a handy checklist to make sure your home is maintained this fall:

 

HVAC:

• As the fall weather begins to cool off that summer heat, HVAC systems still need to be maintained. Check and clean your HVAC system, and replace the filter. 

• Adjust the thermostat for the season change.

 

CLEAN:

• Clear air intakes, exhaust and meters of debris, nests, etc.

• Check gutters and downspouts and clean if needed.

• Check the fireplace and chimney; service or clean if needed.

• Clean range hood filter.

• Clean dryer vent. 

 

SAFETY & INSPECTIONS:

• Check the smoke detector, fire escape routes, fire extinguisher, door and window locks.

• Check roofing and flashing for signs of wear or damage.

• Check roof vents/ soffit vents

• Inspect pressure and temperature valve on water heater

• Replace batteries in Smoke Detectors throughout the house.

 

LANDSCAPING PREPARATION:

• Close outside hose connection and drain. (Get covers for hose bibs)

• Winterize landscaping and blow out the irrigation system.

• Maintain proper grades for drainage throughout property.
